Done and buried?

Anna Nicole Smith had a very publicized death investigation back in 2007. She had been known around the world as a very emotionally distressed woman after the death of her son, Daniel, dying days after her baby girl Dannilyn had been born.

According to toxicology reports released to the media, Anna had been taking many pills, prescribed, as well as over-the-counter drugs. Her case was declared as an overdose.

Now, two years later, new information has been released about how Smith had been given drugs and prescriptions. Smith's psychiatrist, Khristine Eroshevich, had turned herself in, admitting she had prescribed drugs for Smith's depression. She had signed the prescriptions with a false name for Smith, for privacy, not meaning to commit fraud. She had posted bail of $20,000.

Smith's ex-boyfriend, Howard Stern, and former doctor, Sandeep Kapoor, were also charged with felonies for providing Smith with excessive addictive drugs. They face 11 different felony charges.

I commend the investigators for getting this information out to the media. Many people blamed Smith for her own death, although she was under great stress. Her whole life had been in front of the camera, and she was definitely depressed after the death of her son. The doctors, and her lawyer/boyfriend deserve the charges they get, because they only made it worse by providing those drugs.

Hopefully this will give a little redemption for Smith and her life, and maybe she can finally rest in peace. Now people can maybe understand a little better the media's influence on a celebrity's private life.

  1. I understand the right and need to protect one's privacy, especially when it comes to medical desions, but no one had to commit a felony. Nicole was depressed, many people suffer from depression and take medication for it. So what if someone found out she was taking anti-depressants, would people not understand how rough it is loosing a son? If she was clinically diagnosed with depression, or expressed to her doctor that she was depressed, (to be sure she wasn't trying to "off" herself,)the docotor is allowed to perscribe medication to her. It sound like there is more of the story to be told. Rule number 1, lying will always get you in trouble, especially if you lie to the law. I wouldn't exactly call that justice though. It sounds like those people had a case of guilty conscience, but i'm glad they finally did the right thing. Stories like this make me thankful to good, caring people around me.

  2. I get tired of hearing things like this. She is already dead. Get over it. Stop trying to bring things up in regards to her. Who cares if she took antidepressants? Although I think it was ironic that she died a few days after her son did. I think that was a sign that she was about done.

However, I am glad to see that justice has finally been served to thos ewho have been wrongdoing. Great post otherwise.

  3. I disagree. Smith should have known not to take so many prescription pills. I understand that certain circumstances, and life events can cause us to become depressed to a certain degree, but we have a responsibility to ourselves to help ourselves out if we want to get better.

Yes, the doctor's should have been watching her more closely, but she shouldn't have been going to so many different doctors', therapists, etc. looking for more drugs to take, especially when she had a child on the way.

Yes, it is difficult to be in front of a camera. I can't even begin to fathom that amount of pressure. However, people can choose their lifestyle.

  4. Yes, Ms. Smith was depressed, but as and adult she knew better than to take perscription drugs or any drugs for that matter. I know it had to be hard to lose a love one especially a child. But, to think that your doctor, boyfriend and ex-doctor gave her the pills is appalling. They were suppose to look out for her, because they new she was under a lot of pressure. The media made her look so bad.

Even though her doctor's gave her the perscriptions, she should have refused them. She had another child to care for and she gave up on her.

Now that the real truth has come out maybe, now she will be able to rest in peace.

  5. I think that the media does obviously play an unnecessary amount of stress on the majority of celebrities. However, I wouldn't place all of the blame on Stern and Smith's doctors, although they are undoubtedly highly responsible and deserve jail time. Smith still sought drugs out from multiple people, showing that she had, as tragic as it is, a self-inflicted problem.
